Verse 6.19

From Chapter 6 — The Yoga of Meditation

Original text

यथा दीपो निवातस्थो नेङ्गते सोपमा स्मृता। योगिनो यतचित्तस्य युञ्जतो योगमात्मनः॥

Translation

“As a lamp in a windless place does not flicker — that is the image given for one of gathered mind, practising the yoga of the self.”

Source — Bhagavad Gītā 6.19 (traditional Sanskrit text). English rendering by Frenly Divine — a working translation, not an authoritative one.

Understand

What it is saying

Explanation — written by Frenly Divine, not scripture

A simile rather than a claim. Notice what it implies: the flame is not made brighter, only undisturbed.

Why it matters

It is the Gītā's clearest picture of the settled attention Patañjali later calls dhyāna.

Reflect

What is the wind, for you?
