Verify, don't just take our word for it
Follow the reasoning.
An observation, a philosophical argument, a religious teaching and a personal experience are not the same kind of claim. We label what a source can and cannot establish.
Observation
A report or measurement of something observable. Describing an event does not establish its ultimate cause.
Evidence with limitations
A source can establish what was written, taught or reported; its reliability and interpretation still need consideration.
Debate
An argument may be coherent and influential without being universally accepted. Read its strongest objections too.
Tradition & experience
A belief or experience can be deeply meaningful without being independently verifiable by this site.
Unknown
If evidence is absent or the method cannot decide, we say so rather than implying certainty.
