From Chapter 2 — The Yoga of Knowledge

Original text

योगस्थः कुरु कर्माणि सङ्गं त्यक्त्वा धनञ्जय। सिद्ध्यसिद्ध्योः समो भूत्वा समत्वं योग उच्यते॥

Translation

“Established in yoga, perform your actions, letting go of attachment, the same in success and failure. Evenness is what is called yoga.”

Source — Bhagavad Gītā 2.48 (traditional Sanskrit text). English rendering by Frenly Divine — a working translation, not an authoritative one.

Understand

What it is saying

Explanation — written by Frenly Divine, not scripture

Here yoga is given a definition: evenness. Not detachment from the work, but sameness of mind across its outcomes.

Why it matters

It is one of the text's few explicit definitions of yoga, and it is psychological rather than physical.
